Longwarry outplayed

Longwarry’s division two travelled to Garfield on Saturday and were outplayed for the majority of the game.

They only won one rink and lost by 18 shots.

Division six played Drouin at Drouin, coming home with a fantastic 17-shot win.

Division two: Longwarry 2/80 lost to Garfield 18/98.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) lost to Shane Oliver’s team 20/30.

In an even game early with scores even on end seven, Garfield picked up 15 shots in the next seven ends to set up and eventual 10-shot win.

Brian Hennessy, Frank Hone, Grant Pask and Russell White (skip) lost to Tom Cleary’s team 15/29.

Garfield got off to a flying start and were 11 shots up after six ends. Longwarry were competitiv­e in the second half but were beaten by a better team on the day, losing by 14 shots.

Glenn Pask, Lloyd Maisey, Ian Peterson and Slim Eastwell (skip) lost to Peter Leishout’s team 21/24.

In a tight contest, Garfield outplayed Longwarry in the last four ends, picking up nine shots to two to win by three shots.

Simon Counsel, Mark Serong, Hank Metselaar and Ken White (skip) defeated Steven Whyte’s team 24/15.

With scores even at the main break, Longwarry came out to play good team bowls. They won nine of the last 12 ends to record a nine-shot win, with Hank (Shaggy) Metselaar a standout.

Division six: Longwarry (2) 8/46 defeated Drouin (4) 2/29.

Reg Dunn, Brian Green, Ron Sutton and Brian Mason (skip) lost to Kevin Potter’s team 13/15.

In a very close game, Drouin held on to win by two shots.

Sharon Twite, Garth Walker, Eddie Bluck and Gerry Wakefield (skip) defeated Les Gouge’s team 33/14.

Longwarry got off to a flying start and were up 15 shots by end eight. They continued to play good team bowls for a great 19-shot win.
