Women’s cricket rescheduled

-

While Sunday’s weather remained clear, the threat of potential showers was enough to see women’s Gippsland Cricket League matches rescheduled.

With visiting teams scheduled for long trips, the decision to reschedule matches to a date to be determined in January was made on Saturday night.

The Warragul District Hot Shots were due to travel to take on Sale-Maffra at Catholic College Sale, while Traralgon District team Centrals were scheduled to play Bairnsdale at Bairnsdale.

The other Traralgon District side, Calignee and Traralgon South (CATS) had the bye.

The Hot Shots sit atop the ladder following a strong victory over Centrals in the opening round.

Meanwhile, the men’s GCL season will continue on Sunday with Warragul District to host Sale-Maffra at Drouin’s Bellbird Park.

Warragul District wil be looking to cause an upset to register their first victory against the undefeated Sharks.

The Wild Dogs desperately need victory to keep in touch with the top two.

Leongatha District will hope to continue their strong form going against winless Latrobe Valley.

Leongatha are coming off a stunning victory over Warragul District, where a collapse saw the Wild Dogs drop the points in a match they were in a position to win.

Second-placed Bairnsdale take on thirdplace Traralgon and District in a match that could determine which side plays off in the final.
