Warriors to 1-43 at stumps.

McCluskey was the only man to fall, trapped plumb in front by Steven Fox for just nine.

Ferguson plunders ton

Iona (6-354) vs. Warragul: Having struggled to exert his influence thus far in season 2018/19, Luke Ferguson plundered a century against Warragul to lead Iona into a position of strength at stumps on day one; the Swamp Tigers making 6-354.

Nick Felstead and Kieran Lenders both made season best totals at the top of the order, reeling off a pair of 47s to lead the charge for Iona at the start of the day.

And Mick Taylor and Ferguson took full toll on Warragul’s attack as the day progressed. Taylor’s 75 – his second half-century of the summer – enabled Ferguson to bat with freedom, and that he did, belting boundaries almost at will on his way to 137.

Tim Whitten (3-80 off 16) did his best to peg back the Swamp Tigers, but as reflected on the scoreboard there was little he could do to stem the flow of runs.

Tyrone making headlines

Ellinbank (108) vs. Garfield-Tynong (0-7): AKV Tyrone has made headlines this season for his belligerent batting efforts, but his ability with the ball has gone somewhat under the radar – although he went some way to changing this with a stunning performance against Ellinbank.

Having watched Stuart Davis (19) and Michael Masterson (25) inch the Eagles into a reasonable position at 1-46, Tyrone chimed in with a four-wicket haul that decimated the Ellinbank line-up, claiming 4-11 from 14.5 to bundle his opponents out for just 108.

Pete Davidson (3-25 off seven) almost matched his efforts and APK Rangajith snared 1-27 from 17 accurate overs.

Masterson’s knock proved to be the highest score as the Eagles struggled to counter-attack.

Left with three overs to face out, the Titans safely made their way to 0-7 at stumps.
