Free fun for spud festival

-

All entertainment at next year’s Thorpdale Potato Festival will be free.

Organisers have said that not just some, but all entertainment at the March festival will be free.

This means that not only the three jumping castles and giant slide will be free, but the bucking bull and the new merry go round are also on the free list.

The committee is well underway with securing events and activities for the festival, which will be held on Sunday, March 10.

The return of the festival in 2015, the first after a 15 year hiatus, saw close to 10,000 people flock to Thorpdale to enjoy picking, stacking, eating and learning all about the humble potato.

The festival is an opportunity to meet the farmers who grow the potatoes, see the spectacle of the pallet throw, the speed of the pickers or peruse the ‘hessians on the field’.

Also back next year will be the sheep dog trials – organised by the Victorian Yard Utility Farm Dog Association. These brilliant dogs will mesmerise festival goers with their innate talent.

Helicopter flights also will be available. Also returning will be the wood choppers, patting pets and TC Trickz with their amazing motorcross shows.

The Hessians-on-the-Field fashion creations will be a major feature.

Stall applications are still open and flooding in. Anyone interested in having a stall should go to the website www.thorpdalepotatofesti val.com.au
