Iona on top

Iona 165 def Ellinbank 8/152 Iona has cemented their place at the top of the ladder with a tight victory over Ellinbank.

Batting first, Mick Taylor (39), Michael Neilson (24) and Kieran Lenders (22) all managed to make handy contributions against a disciplined Eagles bowling attack, pushing the score to 165 as Lachie Pratt (3-41) and Matthew Guy (2-29) took handy wickets at the end of the innings to restrict Iona.

In reply, an improved Ellinbank batting lineup seemed behind all day as Luke Ferguson (329) and Mohammed Shoaib (2-29) kept things tight.

However Lachie Pratt (47) and Stuart Davis (29) managed to push the scoring along, and multiple cameos at the death kept Ellinbank in the contest. However it wasn’t to be, as they fell 13 runs short after their 40 overs.

Crows push to second

Longwarry 126 def Western Park 108 Longwarry has pushed their way into the top two, stunning Western Park with a fantastic bowling and fielding performance.

Batting first, Longwarry lost their openers early due to a terrific spell from the reliable Sam McMillan (3-12), however Sam (45) and Dom Pullen (25) pushed the score to 77 to seemingly get the Crows out of danger with some lusty hitting.

However veteran Jason Batson used his Deadpool-like precision and thrust Western Park back into the context, taking four key wickets and, along with Fletcher Kennedy (226), helped restrict Longwarry to an under-par 126.

In reply Western Park reached 1-55 and were seemingly home, however a string of four run outs would prove their undoing as an energetic Longwarry outfit proved their undoing.

Liam Quarrell (2-17) and Vincent Van Strijp (2-19) supplemented this fielding with some outstanding bowling, and in turn the Parkers were bundled out for 108 as the Crows took home an important victory.
