Division 2
By Joel Batson Garfield-Tynong 2/225 def Drouin 5/187 Another performance of the highest quality has won Garfield-Tynong their match against Drouin at the weekend, as AK Tyrone smashed his way to a century which truly underlined his class.
As the Titans batted first and lost Brayden Ridler with the score on eight, Pete Davidson (65*) and Tyrone put on the partnership of the season, a rapid 212-run stand which ultimately delivered a wonderful Tyrone knock (pushing his runs total to 548 at an average of 91.33) and a mammoth score of 2-225.
In reply the Hawks through Alex Gaudion, who played a magnificent hand, fell just 38 short. Gaudion fell agonisingly short of a century in an outstanding effort by the talented batsmen, finishing on 99 not out as a lack of support meant the Hawks weren’t able to make up enough ground, finishing on 5-187 off their allotted overs.
Tyler leads Gulls
Hallora 6/181 def by Warragul 7/205 Tyler Constantine has once again shown why he is one of the best young batsmen in the league, making a brisk 70 to lead the Gulls to victory away to Hallora.
Constantine was too good for the Hallora attack at times as he pushed his season runs tally to above 300, while Brian Christensen (51) and Matthew Bow (33) led from the front, as Warragul made an imposing 7-205.
Young pair Jacob Kleeven (3-37) and Liam Serong (2-41) were impressive for Hallora, who struggled to make inroads into the top order.
In reply Dave Macdermid (59) made good use of his return to the lower grades, however his run out at the hands of Runnalls proved crucial and with only Chris Diston (32*) able to muster a score against the likes of Tim Whitten (2-36), Hallora fell short, making 6-181 off their overs as Warragul secured victory.
