Tight contests to close division four
lost an amazing 6/4 to finish the day with the scores level.
Bob Thomas was instrumental in the collapse, claiming four wickets in quick succession to finish with 4/32. Jesse Lafrantz gave away nothing with the new ball, chiming in with 2/12 off eight overs.
Gulls too strong
Warragul 6/167 (cc) def Hallora 9/145 (cc) Warragul has proved too strong for Hallora in an even contest at Eastern Park.
Choosing to bat first the Gulls overcame a slow start with a handy 80-run stand from Toby Shelton and John Mulqueen (44).
Shelton was the mainstay of the home sides innings, batting through the allotted overs to finish with 44 not out. Vaneet Singh added a valuable 35 not out late in the day helping Warragul to post a par score.
Brayden Notman starred with the ball, claiming 4/22 off eight overs.
In reply Hallora struggled early, losing the big wickets of Brian McDonald for nought and Rob Park for just 14.
Bradley Ward (49) offered stern resistance however, batting late into the afternoon to top score for the Kangas.
Brayden Notman backed up his bowling efforts with a handy 33 but the visitors couldn’t quite muster enough runs from the lower order to get the win.
With four bowlers each claiming two wickets Amandeep Singh was the most economical with 2/15 off eight. Jack Buckingham kept it tight with the new ball to claim 2/18 off eight while Dan Perrett (2/29) and Paul Singh (2/28) chipped in with handy spells.
Black cruise to victory
Jindivick Black 7/148 def Drouin 10/144 Jindivick Black have cruised to victory over Drouin after a strong performance with the ball restricted the home side to a below par score.
Choosing to bat first the Hawks made a solid start through Lochie Downie (20) and Stephen Bleazby (21) before a horror stretch through the top and middle order saw them in trouble at 7/74.
Quentin Leuridan proved a handy inclusion, top-scoring with 49 in his first outing for Drouin and keeping the visitor in the field for the full complement of overs.
Steve McGillivray returned outstanding figures of 3/9 off eight overs and he was well supported by Shane Hoskins (3/15), Gordon Winstone (2/37), and Ant Maguire (2/40).
In reply the Jumping Jacks struggled to get going with Winstone (42) the only man to have a major impact before Kev Larkman (43) took over the scoring.
At 6/124 the visitor was well poised to take the points as Daryl Bagnall (17*) confidently steered his side to victory with five overs to spare.
Pick of the bowlers (and only multiple wicket taker) was Jesse Craig with 2/14.
