One-day matches were played at the weekend to conclude the 2018 portion of the season with some tightly contested games across the board.

Jindivick Gold head the main ladder going into the Christmas break ahead of Jindivick Black only on percentage. Longwarry and Hallora round out the top four.

In the one-day format Jindivick Black sit three points clear of Ellinbank followed by Jindivick Gold and Longwarry.

Cricket will resume on January 12 with a further three rounds of one-dayers scheduled.

Down to the wire

Jindivick Gold 8/147 def Iona 10/144 The clash between Jindivick Gold and Iona went down to the wire with the result decided in the last over of the day.

Chasing a competitiv­e total, the Jumping Jacks were in all sorts of trouble early on, losing a staggering 6/25 to be 100 runs still in arrears with only four wickets in hand.

Anwar Magnusson and Toby Hart (20) offered their side a glimmer of hope with a defiant 54-run stand but there was still a lot of work to be done. Magnusson proved immovable as he continued to chip away at the target, leading Jindivick to a thrilling victory and top-scoring with a workman like 62.

Pick of the bowlers were the new ball combinatio­n of Jarryd Bain (4/21) and Michael Scully (3/36).

Earlier in the day the Swamp Tigers got away to a flying start with a 74-run opening stand before the bowlers took the ascendency as the afternoon wore on. Sean McCormack (57) made it back-to-back half centuries while Chris Phelan chipped in with 38.

Wickets were evenly shared amongst the bowlers with Peter Shea (2/33), Mick Gnaden (2/32), and Michael Buzasi (2/23) all contributi­ng.

Stunning tie

Longwarry 8/120 (cc) tied Ellinbank 10/120 Longwarry and Ellinbank have shared the points in a stunning tie played out at Lardner Recreation Reserve.

Choosing to send the Crows in, the home side applied consistent pressure with the ball, never allowing the batsmen to get settled.

Geoff Rumble (15) and Evan Wright (17) made handy starts but a string of single figure scores made it hard for the visitor to gain any momentum.

Rob Cowan top-scored with a valuable 34 not out while Corey Davis chipped in late with a handy 15 not out.

Jack Logan was the pick of the bowlers with the incredible figures of 2/3 off six overs which included five maidens. He was the only multiple wicket taker.
