Titans hold top spot

Garfield-Tynong 8/218 def Western Park 8/192 Garfield-Tynong have held onto top spot after defeating Western Park in a high scoring affair.

Choosing to bat first the Titans got off to a flying start with Gavin Koch (41) and Darren Vandenberg­e (63 retired not out) setting the pace.

Al Bliss (28) and Ray Evans (32) kept the scoreboard ticking as the home side set a required run-rate of more than six runs per over.

The ever-reliable workhorse JP D’Amico was the pick of the bowlers with 3/28 with good support from young spinner Luke Garner 2/28 and club stalwart John Laffy 2/11.

In reply Josh Winfield (23) and Raman Gautam (29) embraced the challenge, getting the Warriors away to a fantastic start.

Elliot Kennedy (50 retired not out) kept things locked down at the other end and was rewarded with a half-century. Unfortunat­ely, the visitors fell away late in the day and weren’t quite able to chase down the large target.

Vandenberg­e proved again his ability with both bat and ball, returning figures of 3/22. Aaron Maxwell chimed in with 2/28.
