Kids cool with BTV

Students at Lardner District Primary School will have access to a comfortable learning environment year-round thanks to a donation from Beyond the Valley music festival.

School principal Kelly Halliday said the donation would allow the school to buy three new air conditioning units and upgrade another to ensure comfort for the school’s 55 students and staff.

“That will be three classrooms and an office,” she said.

“And they’ll be reverse cycle, so we’ll have heating too.

“Comfortable children make for comfortable learning.”

Beyond the Valley has supported the school in the past, with a previous donation assisting the school’s reading program.

Beyond the Valley director Christian Serrao said the festival committee was always looking for new ideas to support the community. “We plan to be here for a long time,” he said. “And here we’re just down the road, so it makes sense to support the school.”

Beyond The Valley is an Australian music festival that began in 2014, and runs annually over the New Year’s Eve period.
