A course to teach design and build apps for mobile communications devices to be run at Warragul this year will be the first offered outside of Melbourne by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

A collaboration by RMIT with the State government and Federation Training, the cost of the course will be subsidised by $200 reducing the cost to participants that work or live in Gippsland to $1600.

The course to be delivered at Federation Training’s Warragul campus starting on February 23 will consist of five face-to-face classes with the rest of the delivery online.

RMIT’s health and sciences program manager with the school of engineering Luke Eberbach and course instructor Mugunth Kumar said participants must have access to an Apple Mac computer for the duration of the course that is based on Apple’s “App Development with Swift” curriculum. No prior coding experience is necessary. Mr Eberbach and Mr Kumar said those that completed the course would be eligible for one unit of credit in the AD006 Associated Degree in Information Technology.

More details including on how to enrol are available from RMIT’s business development project manager Irene Coleiro on 9925 4653 or via email to Irene.coleiro@rmit.edu.au
