Road to nowhere

Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - NEWS -

After reading and re reading the article regarding Smith St, I cannot believe our council thinks so little of its ratepayers. In fact it seems they think we are all idiots.

We are told that a report advising them that one way traffic will "holistically improve traffic flow" and our councillors nod their heads and say “good idea.” I don't think so.

Mr Google advises, holistically means “in a way that is characterised by the belief that parts of something are intimately connected and explicable only by reference to the whole." Yeah right that really relates to a road. To take it one step further, living holistically means “that a person living their life in a way that is both natural to them and the world in which they live.”

Well Smith St as it is, is “natural to us and the world we live in (Warragul)".

Smith St has ample footpath space and workable parking. Why is is that someone always wants to change something that works so well.

You would think after the debatable of Palmerston St more care would be taken in making these decisions, the continual waste of ratepayers money is criminal.

The main beneficiaries of these changes will be the store owners in Pakenham and Fountain Gate as it is just another reason to shop elsewhere.

Bouquets to the organisers and participants at the Skate Park League’s competition at Warragul last weekend. Great to see the skills of youth on show in an encouraging environment.

Will it take a fatality at Danes RdLardners Trk intersection before the holes and edges are fixed and lines made visible?

Bouquets to Dane Swan who mingled amongst the crowd as guest at the Warragul Greyhound Club on Saturday night and was obliging to many photo opportunities for fans young and old.
