Croquet club at capacity

-

Warragul Croquet Club’s needs for an additional court came to the fore following play on Saturday.

The club experienced a big turn out, and as such the club could not accommodate everyone on its court or in its club house.

Club treasurer Mary Cornwall said Saturday’s play demonstrated how desperate the club is to gain an extra court and extend its club house.

“We had to slide in a half court and still had people waiting on the sidelines for someone to come off so they could jump on,” she said.

“Our club house was that ‘chockers’ that we had to have people sitting in the back stalls.

“Being Gippsland pennant champions in 2018 has brought on quite some interest, but unfortunately we are not able to accommodate the interest.

“So we are in a catch 22, wanting more members but at the same time wanting more playing and socialising space.”
