Rodeo sure to excite

-

The excitement of the Neerim District show will continue into the evening as the third annual Neerim Rodeo kicks off at 6pm.

A quality field is again expected for the event, which has been endorsed by the Australian Professional Rodeo Association and carries a significant prize money pool. A top prize of $1000 is on offer for the most aggregate points, while other event wins carry a prize purse of $700.

Neerim District Show president Frank Schellekens said sponsorship had been secured to add the Neerim Challenge for top aggregate prize to the event and keep competition honest over both horse and bull events.

Enthusiasts can expect a similar program to last year’s event which included saddle bronc, bareback, bull ride, rope and tie, team roping, breakaway roping and barrell race. Juniors are also expected to show case their skills across steer ride, bareback and barrell disciplines.

Spectator comfort is assured, with the event taking place in a no dust, sand arena.

Gates will open at 4.30pm, with event amusements including bucking bull. Ride bands will be available, with individual ride tickets also available on the day. Those with pre-purchased wristbands will be able to stay on following completion of the Neerim District show at 3.30pm.

Security will be onsite with no bring your own alcohol or public camping permitted. A wet tent will be on site to cater for those wishing to partake.
