Low scoring clash

Jindivick Gold 5/84 def Warragul 10/81 Jindivick Gold had little trouble in accounting for Warragul in a low scoring clash at Eastern Park.

Electing to bat first, the Gulls top three all made starts, reaching double figures before failing to go on with it.

A collapse of 5/7 left the home side reeling and with Dylan Gentile (19) the only man to offer any resistance the Gulls could only muster a meagre total of 81.

Jeremy Hill was the pick of the bowlers with 3/23 and he was well supported by Peter Shea (2/19) and Tim Jeffrey (2/17).

In reply, the Jumping Jacks came out with real intent, with the pursuit of quick runs causing them to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Jake Jeffrey anchored the chase with 21 not out with handy contributi­ons from Tim Jeffrey (14) and Ben Rowe (10*) getting them home in 20 overs.

Jackson Clerks followed up his morning of work in the under 16s (5/15 off eight overs) to finish with 3/26.

Feathers fly

Drouin 10/176 def Ellinbank 9/132 (cc) The feathers were flying as Drouin took on Ellinbank in a battle of the birds at Bellbird Park No.2 oval.

Choosing to bat first, the Hawks were in trouble early before a 62-run partnershi­p from Sam Barwick (61) and Jayden Bibby (26) steadied ship.

The Eagles held the upper-hand during the middle overs as the batsmen struggled to get going before a late flourish from Chris McNeill (20*) got the home side to a defendable target.

Jake Achilles kept the batsmen tied down, finishing with 3/7 off six overs. Jack Logan snared 3/48 while Heath Logan chimed in with 2/22.

In reply, the visitor just didn’t have enough contributo­rs as only three men reached double figures.

Matt Murphy led from the top of the order with 47 while Bryce Joyce (coming off an unbeaten 71 in the morning) made 20.

Jason Helps finished the day on 30 not out as the innings petered to a close.

Adin Short returned incredible figures of 3/2 off four overs to be the best of the bowlers.

McNeill chipped in late in the day with 2/13
