Skipper Michael Van Langenburg (37) kept things together in the middle order and with victory in sight, Nick Bagnall (24*) safely guided his team home.

Best of the bowlers was Thomas Wans with 2/34.

Park leads Lyrebirds

Buln Buln 7/119 def Yarragon 9/113 (cc) A boundary laden 47 not out to Buln skipper Charlie Park has handed the Lyrebirds victory over Yarragon.

Coming to the crease with the score at 5/44, Park struck out aggressively with nine 4s and one 6 to catapult the home side past the target in the 22nd over.

Lex Wright (20) and Brian Dennison (13) made handy contributions.

Michael Stead (4/25) made it hard for the top order while Carlo Ierfone (2/29) chimed in late in the innings.

Earlier in the day the Panthers cobbled together a mediocre total through a host of contributions between 10-20 runs. Ben Fleming top scored with 18. Pick of the bowlers and only multiple wicket taker was Hayden Baker with 3/23.

Stags continue charge

Neerim District 8/129 (cc) def Western Park 10/100

Neerim District continued its charge towards finals action with a comfortable win over Western Park.

Choosing to bat first the Stags made a steady start through Lachlan Smith (28) and Tony McCann (25) before a quick fire 20 (two fours and two sixes) from Brad Fusinato briefly lifted the run rate.

Vinnie Caia (19) was stoic in his defence, helping the visitor see out their allotted overs.

Sam Laffy was the best of the bowlers with 4/21 while John Laffy picked up 2/21.

In reply, a depleted Western Park struggled to get going as wickets fell at an alarming rate.

Peter Croft steadied ship with a valuable 24 but with four other batsmen only reaching 10, the home side couldn’t mount a reasonable challenge.

Vinnie Caia was on target early claiming 3/12 off six economical overs.

Nathan Ryrie provided good support with 3/30 from the other end while Brad Fusinato claimed a couple of good scalps to finish with 2/16.
