Too hot for business?

-

Building business resilience will be the focus of an annual fundraising dinner hosted by the Rotary Club of Warragul.

How well prepared is your business to respond to more frequent and intense extreme weather events, such as extended periods of heat, bush fires and storms, will form much of the discussion.

The dinner, to be held on Monday April 1, will enable businesses attending to network, hear new ideas and contribute funds to a worthy local cause.

This year’s recipient will be the Neerim District Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The money will contribute to the cost of installing new energy efficient heating equipment that reduces costs and environmental impacts.

Statistics show 40 per cent of businesses fail to open after a disaster.

More frequent and intense extreme weather events are presenting increasing risks to communities. Businesses play a critical role in supporting their communities during emergency response and recovery. Business continuity and resilience planning can make a significant difference.

Guest speakers Victoria Chantra and Allan Klindworth of AECOM will share two approaches that have been used to support business resilience to natural disasters.

They will draw upon their experiences working with communities following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and devastating bushfires in Tasmania.

The Rotary Club of Warragul thanked AECOM for providing their expertise free of charge to

support the local community. AECOM is a global network of experts working with clients, communities and colleagues to develop and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most complex challenges.

Interested businesses and others are invited to get behind Rotary in service to their local community.

Booking early for the dinner is encouraged as numbers are limited.

Bookings can be made through Eventbrite or by downloading the invitation from the Rotary Club of Warragul’s Facebook page.
