Horses dominate on main arena
Following the success of a separate horse show in the past two years, organisers will stick with the two day horse show program again this year.
The majority of horse events will be held during a separate program on Sunday.
Working draught horses will be judged on Friday night while Clydesdales, Shire horses and light and heavy harness classes will continue to be a feature of the show day program on Saturday.
Organisers said the eight ring horse event program on Sunday provided more scope with the layout of horse events.
They said this would enable full focus of the show to be on horse events in the main arena on Sunday, without the noise and distraction of the carnival and other show activities.
Waler horses were a new feature to last year’s horse program and led and ridden classes are again included in this year’s program.
Brumbies also will return with five classes and champion and reserve champion ribbons on offer.
Warragul Show has a long reputation of being a leading and top quality show and the horse program at Warragul has always been well supported by high standard entries.
Judges are always full of praise for exhibits and competitors in classes across the board.
Whether a competitor or a horse lover, the main arena will be the place to be for hour after hour as judges cast their eye over a quality display of horse and rider combinations on Sunday from 8.30am.
There have already been strong entries for the horse classes and in past years late entries on the day have boosted numbers to record entries.
The popularity of classes for miniature horses in recent years will see these classes return to this year’s program.
There will be 17 classes plus champion classes, including supreme miniature horse exhibit
Clydesdales kick start the Saturday judging program in the main arena from 9am. The working draught horses also will be put through their paces in precision driving and obstacle course classes.
The Saturday horse classes will include Clydesdales, Shire horses, working farm horses and light and heavy harness exhibits.
Hacks, Galloways and Ponies will compete in a number of classes as well as champion and reserve champion classes on Sunday.
The open led classes will be open to all breeds and will culminate with judging of the grand champion led exhibit.
There will be a ring for “coloured horses” allowing Buckskins, Palomino and Pinto entries to be judged in their separate breed classes, one after another.
Other horse breeds on show will be Arabian ponies, Australian ponies, Welsh Mountain, Welsh, Mountain or Moorland ponies, Shetland, Riding ponies and Australian stock horse.
