Warragul Primary appoints leaders
Hosting weekly school assemblies is what the 2019 school leaders of Warragul Primary School are most looking forward to as they embark on the new school year.
Jorja Barker, Hunter Delaney, Sharna Gillies and Georgia Moro, all of grade six, were elected school leaders after writing an application letter to principal Scott Clode followed by an interview process.
Georgia said hosting assemblies would be the highlight of the role, closely followed by representing the school and acting as role models for all students.
“It’s nice being a leader and it means a lot to us,” said Jorja. “Not everybody gets an opportunity to be a leader.”
Sharna said running assemblies, which includes creating agendas, was plenty of fun.
“Every week we have a partner. We take turns at running and handing out awards,” she said.
Hunter enjoys being part of a leadership team of four students “because there’s more people to make decisions and learn off each other”.
The four students are also looking forward to visiting local kindergartens for reading activities and speaking at an upcoming Warragul Farmers’ Market to promote the annual Warragul Kids’ Farmers’ Market.
The market will be held on Friday, March 22 at the Albert St school campus between 4pm and 6pm.
