Triathlon season winding down

-

There was a great turn out for both the senior and junior event this week with only a few weeks left to go in the Wild Dog Triathlon Club summer season.

The juniors enjoyed the warmer conditions with the easterly breeze adding a challenge to the ride leg.

Yet this did not deter some competitive action with Tahlia Langelaan (26:16) returning to hold onto to the lead in the six laps, with a great challenge from both Isabel Oswald and Caleb McKenna.

Andrew Thompson (25:19) continues to dominate the five laps, with Jacob Langelaan (18:00) taking out the four laps over a solid effort from Grace Graafsma.

There was a large turn out for the juniors three laps which was won by Troy Oswald (16:35), holding out from both Blake and Joel Turner.

Blake Langelaan (15:30) took out the two laps and Charlotte McKenna (14:16) held off Poppy Ward for the one lap event.

Olivia Thompson returned for the one lap 'splash and dash'.

Seniors saw a return to the 'retro' style shorter length five laps for the long tri 5.3km run.

The aim was to increase audience participation and add more competition to the run.

A large field in the seniors saw the return of a few members for the first time this season and new comers from further a field, with Paul Taylor holding strong in the long event.

For his first WDTC tri of the season Geoff Williams took out the short event, with Harvey Scott taking first in the fun event.

For those wishing to have a go at an evening triathlon, GippSport community triathlon will be held on Friday March 1 at 6.30pm at Latrobe Leisure Moe-Newborough, with WDTC managing the race direction for the event.
