Makeover for Tarago Views
A refurbishment of the Tarago Views aged care facility at Neerim South aims to deliver better aged care services to local residents.
Works included refurbishment of two shared and five ensuite bathrooms, new lighting, vinyl flooring, window frames, curtains, new bedheads in bedrooms and improvements to kitchens and the gardens.
The $300,000 project was jointly funded by the federal government and the Neerim District Health Service.
Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent said Tarago Views, operated by Neerim District Health Service, hade long provided quality acute and aged care services.
“Tarago Views has highly-qualified nursing and personal care staff and provides accommodation for 25 residents in an environment that is safe and rather like living at home with its lovely communal gardens and outdoor spaces.
“Residents have access to a variety of onsite services including short-term respite, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, podiatry and even weekly hairdressing, as well as other medical services and social activities,” Mr Broadbent said.
Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Minister Michael McCormack said the federal government was proud to help build the quality of regional services.
“These works will help improve the financial sustainability of the Neerim District Health Service and its position as a source of employment within the town,” Mr McCormack said.
“Community projects such as this not only provide important social infrastructure but also help address disadvantage in a region, giving an economic boost that flows into the community for years to come.
The project was funded under the federal government’s Regional Jobs and Investment Packages.
