Philatelic society

-

The Warragul Philatelic Society auction was a great success: a lot of hard work but very rewarding in the number attending, and strong bidding.

Thank you to Warragl RSL for the use of the hall.

A visitor from America, and a new member attended the last meeting.

Frank B. gave an interesting talk and discussion on Rotary, including its campaign to wipe out polio worldwide.

About 130 countries have issued stamps to commemorate Rotary’s efforts, their meetings are structured around international involvement, youth, and the community. The majority of the money raised goes to the local community.

The competition was on Rotary, first was Jeanette M, second Felix A, and third Frank B. Well done, as all were of a high standard.

The May meeting was occupied mainly with preparations for our coming Stamp and Coin Fair on June 1 at the Exhibition Hall, Warragul. There will be dealers with swapcards, memorabilia, and militaria. All tables (50) have been sold. Entry is free and there will be showbags for children. It will begin at 9am and conclude at 4pm. A bus trip will be organised to the Bendigo Stamp Fair in August.

John R has purchased two collections for the club, to be sold over time, or at next auction in October.

The May Competition was on Overprints on normal stamps, first Felix A, second Ian W.

The next meeting will be on Friday June 14 , Warragul North Primary School, 7pm for circuit books, 7.30pm meeting starts. For further information, contact Stan R on 0428254568.
