Tyan boots 10 goals for Dragons

Drouin’s senior men’s side went to top of the table after an impressive win against Inverloch on Sunday.

All teams played extremely well in very windy conditions down at the Star’s home pitch.

Other teams to be top of the table after five rounds include men’s reserves, under 16s and under 14B.

An impressive effort in the under 16s, with Tyan George scoring 10 goals.

Drouin Dragons will be at home to Prom Coast on Sunday. The Mini Roos are on Saturday morning.

Men’s seniors: Drouin defeated Inverloch 60.

Drouin took the ascendancy early in this game and controlled the possession from the start.

They looked strong right across the pitch, led by captain Franky Pitisano.

Highlights of the game included Shannon Knegt keeping a clean sheet in his first senior game of the year and Brodie Carter’s first senior goal.

Drouin now sits at the top of the ladder for the first time in 2019. However, there is still a long way to go in the season.

Men’s reserves: Drouin defeated Inverloch 42.

It was a closely fought battle in trying conditions. Drouin went ahead after a goal to Sandy Benson, however, Inverloch struck back to make it 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Drouin took control and adjusted better to the playing conditions.

Second half goals to Jarrod Buckley-Cook and Tom Lyons sealed the result and confirmed top spot. Women: Drouin drew Inverloch 2-2. Drouin women came out strong with a solid performanc­e on the pitch by all players.

The first half saw the women settle well into their positions and the keepers under the pump at both ends of the pitch.

There was a great display of teamwork with players passing and calling for the ball.

Drouin got the first goal in the net and, not long after, Inverloch responded. Drouin got another to be 2-1 at half-time. The second half saw Drouin hold on right up to the last couple of minutes when Inverloch made the scores equal. Well done to all players. Best on awards: Bec Martin and Paris Jessup.

181.Under 16s: Drouin defeated Korumburra

Drouin Dragon’s played Korumburra at Mirboo North under lights on Friday night.

The team are really starting to gel and put together complete games.

Tyan George was outstandin­g, pocketing 10 goals in the 18-1 win.

Best players: Tyan George, Harry Graham and Charlie Norman.

Goals: Tyan George 10, Jackson Spencer 2, Kieran Hawkins 2, Henry Grant 2, Charlie Norman 1 and Samuel Bradford 1. Under 14A: Drouin defeated Inverloch 15-1. It was an early start, with the Dragons making the trip to Inverloch for an 8.45am kick-off. It was a cold morning, but no rain made it a great day for a game of football.

Drouin had a great start to the game to be six goals up at half-time. They built on the start for a 15-1 win. Goals: Cooper Spencer 1, Tyler Smith 4, Tristan Silver 2, Lachlan Silver 2, Nathan Beer 5 and Holly Martin 1. Best: Nathen Beer. Under 14B: Drouin defeated Phillip Island 2-0.

Drouin took on the previously undefeated Phillip Island in what turned out to be a cracking game of soccer.

Chances at both ends were not taken early, with both defences standing strong in a scoreless first half.

Drouin stepped up in the second half, with Aleks Tabensky and Finley Lock both scoring from cracking long-range efforts to ensure the points for Drouin.

Dillon Sotiropoul­os was a work horse in the midfield while Conor Mccluskey was unbeatable in defence.

A great all-round team performanc­e against a quality opposition. Under 12s: Drouin defeated Inverloch 6-3. Much better combinatio­ns and support play led to rewards on the scoreboard.

Special mention to Harvey Mylius for his tireless running effort.

Goals: Darcy Spencer 2, Dylan Pawlik 2, Aidan Johnson, Harvey Mylius. Best: Harvey Mylius. Coaches Award: Haridu Kahandawa. Encouragem­ent: Josh Clarke and Shankley Edwards. Under 10s: Drouin lost to Inverloch 1-6. The Dragons came up against a good team on Sunday in Inverloch.

The game was an entertaini­ng tight contest for the first 15 minutes. Drouin had some good chances with James narrowly missing and Jack also coming close.

After a good spell from Drouin, Inverloch scored through a mix up at the back and then scored another two in five minutes.

After the half-time break, Drouin conceded a quick goal but bounced back to control the game for long periods.

After a good pass, Inverloch scored again and Drouin were out of the game with 10 minutes left. Although down, Drouin showed good fight and scored a great goal through Remi.

Awards: Hannah Munckhop, Miles Handly and Charlie Ventura. Under 8s: The sun was shining but it was a little cold at Inverloch as the kids put on jerseys and prepared for a good game.

This team has impressed with its progressio­n each week. The team played exceptiona­lly well again on the weekend, passing to teammates, spreading out and backing up the ball, consistent­ly calling names and helping each other out.

Mieke and Audrey had their first run in goals and did well, keeping their eye on the ball and putting pressure on the ball when out on the field.

Adam played well contesting the ball when it came his way. Will played well in the attacking end and dropping into defence when the team changed.

Spencer read the ball well, chasing it down and supporting his teammates in attack. Jas was everywhere, picking off the ball and making some good runs at goal.

Cal shared the ball around to give everyone a go as well as reading the play well in defence to run it down. Max positioned himself well on the field to have a good couple of shoots at goal and help out.

Griffin continued to attack the ball and is learning new skills every week. Goals: Jas, Max and Cal. Parents award: William Martin. Coaches award: Jasmine Terrill. Encouragem­ent award: Mieke Van Ruiten and Audrey Ashcroft. Under 6s: After last week’s comedy thriller, this week saw a more one-sided affair - not in Drouin’s favour.

It was a hard game for the diminutive Dragons team as the opposition scored again and again, but they never gave up for the entire 50 minutes.

Awards went to Imogen for a determined performanc­e, Claire for her many possession­s and to Zack for his resilience.
