Collie and Fulton seal Tigers’ win

Lang Lang overcame Yarragon in a close-fought match at Yarragon on Saturday.

The Tigers kicked nine goals eight to the visitors’ seven goals and seven behinds.

The final scoreline was Yarragon Panthers 7.7-49 to Lang Lang Tigers’ 9.8-62.

Four of those nine majors came from the duo of Joshua Collie and Clint Fulton. Will McGindle, James Vela, Aaron Rose, Sam Kendell and Rhys Simmons put their name to a goal each.

Best on ground for the victors was Liam O’Connor. He was backed up by the efforts of Luke Collie, Lachlan Barwick, Aaron Rose and Joshua Brown.

The Panthers’ seven goals were thanks to Jesse Hayhow, who kicked two, Matt Moseley, Sean Russell, Devin Pollock, Mitchell Jolly and Steven Dillon.

Devin Pollock was Yarragon’s best man on the day. Lachlan Shaw, Brad Wolfe, Jesse Hayhow, Donovan Pell and Corey Ford also received honourable mentions.

Lang Lang replace Nilma Darnum at place number nine on the ladder after this round. Previously they had been sitting in bottom place.

Yarragon stay where they are, in ninth place. The Panthers will meet fifth-placed Neerim Neerim South in round nine this weekend at Neerim South. The Tigers will host fourthplac­ed Nyora.

Catani win Catani sent Nilma Darnum to the bottom of the ladder with an 11-point win against the Bombers on Saturday.

The result, after a win from Lang Lang, means Nilma Darnum drop to last place on the ladder. Catani stay in sixth place.

Trent Adams and Liam Adams had good games. As did the always in-form Paul Pattison in the middle. Nathan Visser was also influentia­l.

The Blues play top side Longwarry at Longwarry on Saturday. The Bombers will take on the Magpies at Poowong.

Longwarry remain on top of the ladder in the EDFL under 18s competitio­n after a win over Ellinbank. The Crows prevailed 10.6-68 to 4.529 at Ellinbank.

Buln Buln also keep their fifth-placed spot after a win against Neerim Neerim South at Neerim. The Lyrebirds prevailed 4.4-28 to 10.565. Neerim drop to third, being replaced by Poowong at place number two.

The dismal scoring from the Saints meant the Poowong walked away with the chocolates in their match up at Nyora. The Magpies won by 51 points -- 3.13.31 to 12.10-82. Nyora stay in seventh place on the ladder.

Nilma Darnum won against Lang Lang after the Tigers forteited.

Round 9 matches at the grounds of first named clubs are as follows: Buln Buln vs Ellinbank. Lang Lang vs Nyora. Neerim Neerim South vs Longwary. Poowong vs Nilma Darnum.
