A bushwalk with paint

-

Crossover artist Kerrie Warren will take viewers on a bushwalk with paint during solo exhibition “A Journey in Flow” in Mornington.

The exhibition at Nissarana Galleries will open on Friday and continue until Sunday, July 7.

Spellbinding landscapes and elegant ceramics are set to take centre stage.

“As soon as I started thinking about creating a journey of work, it came along naturally,” said Kerrie.

Although renowned for massive panoramas, Kerrie will utilise smaller paintings in this exhibition developed during her Masters of Contemporary Art studies.

Working in a tiny, grungy studio with no natural light in the city whilst studying, throwing and propelling methods and large-scale canvases were not possible.

She experimented with scraping and dragging; welcoming the experimental application challenge.

Human forms are also incorporated into landscapes seen in this exhibition. It follows Kerrie’s unexpected encounter with a trailbike rider whilst on a bushwalk.

“I started looking then at the shape of man in the landscape and the contrast between us and the natural work,” she said.

Nissarana Galleries is located at 211 Main St, Mornington and open daily from 10am to 5pm.

In addition, Kerrie will soon be part of Wild Dogs from Down Under reunion exhibition “Then and Now” at the West Gippsland Arts Centre in August.

The six artists involved in the two-year project – Kerrie Warren, Leonie Ryan, Gary Miles, Eileen Harrison, Laurie Collins and Jenny Murray-Jones – have gone on to achieve doctorates, masters, travel and set up galleries.

“There will be some new pieces, pieces from that time and the journey in between,” said Kerrie.
