Dairy plan will set agenda for industry

-

Gippsland dairy farmers are being urged to have their say on the future of the industry at upcoming Australian Dairy Plan events to be held across Gippsland.

The plan will set a new agenda for the industry and aims to identify key priorities at a national level.

The starting expectation of industry leaders is that the plan will deliver positive change for dairy over the next five years and beyond.

It is collectively supported by Dairy Australia, Australian Dairy Farmers, Australian Dairy Products Federation and the Gardiner Dairy Foundation.

GippsDairy chair Grant Williams urged farmers to attend the workshops, which will be held in Warragul, Maffra and Leongatha in midJune.

“If you’re concerned about the way the dairy industry is heading, then this is your chance to have a say and influence its direction for years to come,” he said,

Mr Williams, who farms at Hallora, said the Australian Dairy Plan offered a unique opportunity to bring positive change to the industry.

“Never before have we had Dairy Australia, the ADF, the processors and Gardiner Foundation working together to create a better future for the dairy industry,” he said.

“What’s crucial to this whole process, however, is that we hear from individual dairy farmers about what they need to build and maintain profitable businesses for themselves.”

“I know I have my own opinions on what needs to be done and I’m keen to share them at my local workshop. I’d strongly encourage every Gippsland dairy farmer to sign up to a workshop and have their say as well.” The Gippsland Dairy Plan events will be held at: Warragul - West Gippsland Arts Centre, on Tuesday, June 18

Maffra - Duart Homestead, on Wednesday, June 19

Leongatha June 20.

All workshops will run from 10am to 2.30pm with lunch provided.
