Fire and farm water planning
The design and layout of farm water reticulation systems will be the focus of an Agriculture Victoria fire recovery workshop to be held at Tonimbuk on Thursday.
The workshop is one of a number that have been rolled out to landholders affected by the Bunyip and Yinnar-Budgeree region fires in March 2019.
Gippsland Fires Agriculture Recovery Manager Lindsay Hyde said the workshops were designed to provide farmers with support to re-establish and manage their pastures and stock, manage weeds
and advise them on how to secure sufficient feed and reliable water supplies for their livestock.
“The purpose of the upcoming workshop is to provide farmers with information that will help them manage their current and future water supply.
“Following fires and during dry conditions, water supply can be a real issue for farmers. Having a well-designed farm water supply plan can help farmers respond to these events.”
Mr Hyde said the Farm Water Reticulation Workshop would look at aspects such as developing a water budget for your farm, basic design and layout of farm water infrastructure as well as the principles of the water reticulation.
The workshop will be held on Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm with lunch to follow at 240 Ellis Rd, Tonimbuk.
