Warragul & Drouin Gazette

Good summation

-

Prue Foley gave a good summation of why she organised a demonstration in Trafalgar to celebrate Anzac Day and protest against the Covid19 lockdown. (Gaz 12/5).

Many of those who attended were given a fine of 10 penalty units (one penalty unit = $165.22) Many people, the silent ones, would quietly agree with what Prue did publicly.

It is a disgrace that the usual Anzac Day commemoration was banned this year. There was no valid reason for the powers that be to do so.

Of more importance though is the overkill (no pun intended) given to the lockdown imposed because of the corona virus. It really is a bit of a fizz.

As I write, we still have not exceeded 100 deaths in Australia, and most of those were caused by other conditions. Each year there are deaths due to influenza. For example, in 2017 there were 1255 flu deaths. There was of course, no lock down.

We have seen the economy of our country wrecked because of the senseless restrictions on business and our normal lives. Why was it necessary to ban fishing, golf, football. and so many other normal things? Many of these senseless restrictions are still in force.

Bouquets, huge ones preferably to the supermarkets and pharmacies for the fantastic job they are doing during this health crisis.

A big bouquet to the Warragul Gazette for the beautiful Mothers’ Day feature. During challenging times it was great to see such happy photos and read such lovely words about our local mums.

A huge bouquet to the four women that came to my aid when I took a nasty fall last week in Palmerston St, Warragul. Rain had made things slippery and I fell heavily but, fortunately, was not inured although sore. I was more shocked and the help I got from those that came to my aid was really appreciated.
