Hospital appeal cancelled

-

The annual hospital equipment appeal for West Gippsland Healthcare Group has been cancelled but people can still donate if they are in a position to do so.

Board chairperson Christine Holland said COVID-19 had created extremely challenging times for many individuals and businesses across our community.

“For this reason the board decided to cancel the appeal as it seemed wrong to be asking our community to donate when they may be experiencing hardship.”

Mrs Holland said despite the challenges, it was heartwarming to receive many offers of support from many people in our community still wishing to donate.

“For those that are in a position to help we are very grateful. We have a long list of equipment needs to assist our services over the coming weeks, months and beyond. This includes priority equipment including ventilators, patient vital signs monitors, oxygen devices and air mattresses. All donations received go toward medical equipment.

An online donation platform is available for people in a position to donate via the West Gippsland Healthcare Group website: www.wghg,cm.au

People can also mail cheques to West Gippsland Hospital Public Relations Office, 41 Landsborough Street Warragul 3820.

All donations are tax deductible and receipts are issued with each donation.

Mrs Holland also thanked the many individuals, businesses and community groups who were providing in-kind support to the health service.

“We would like to say thank you to the people who have sent flowers and cards, the cafes and caterers who have delivered delicious food to staff, sewers who have made cloth wash bags, retailers who have sold daffodil bulbs for our fundraising and all those who have sent in photos and messages to cheer up residents in our aged care facilities at Cooinda Lodge and Andrews House.”

“These acts of kindness are very much appreciated and reflect the strong sense of community across West Gippsland.”
