Land tax

The suggestion to alter the present method of municipal taxation by the adoption of the unimproved land valuation was referred to at the Warragul Shire Council some months ago by Cr Erlandson.

Cr Erlandson brought the matter again prominently before the council in a resolution proposing the adoption of this method of taxation for the Warragul Shire.

Councillors were not prepared to share the views of the mover of the resolution at that stage, for they had not given sufficient thought to the matter.

Cr Erlandson said he thought it very desirable to make a change in the method of valuation. Hitherto it was not practicable to take and use the valuations supplied by the State.
