Third liquor outlet sought

-

A third extra packaged liquor outlet is planned in Warragul.

An application has been lodged for the Cellarbrations chain to establish a bottle shop at the Warragul Business Park development at the corner of Queen St and Hazel Drive.

It follows plans announced for Monacellars, that has a liquor warehouse and distribution centre at Morwell, to build a large format liquor store in Alfred St, Warragul, with an opening date next year.

Also before Baw Baw Shire Council is another planning permit application for a bottle shop in currently vacant premises in an established retail complex at the corner of Victoria and Palmerston Sts, Warragul.

Construction of the Business Park was completed earlier this year with Bunnings the lead tenant and several other retail businesses established there.

According to the application lodged with the council the Cellarbrations outlet with a floor space of 500 square metres would be created by consolidating three adjoining, but vacant, designated retail spaces.

To enable the bottle shop to operate on the site an amendment is being sought to the initial planning permit that stipulated department store, restricted retail, trade supplies and warehouse uses.

The application describes the amendment as “modest” and a bottle shop an appropriate use and complementary to the broader range of businesses on the site.

Opening hours are envisaged as 9am to 10 pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10am to 10 pm on Sundays.
