Graeme Moore

-

A belief there is still more work to do and a wish to see existing projects come to fruition are behind Nar Nar Goon North resident Graeme Moore seeking reelection to Cardinia Shire Council.

Mr Moore, who has served as councillor for 10 years including mayor in 2012/13 and 2018/19, said “I’ve still got more to give and to this area that I live in and love”.

If elected, he says he will have more time to devote to the role with plans to retire from his engineering business in the next 12 months.

His decision was also based on uncertainty if fellow candidates were running for the right reasons.

Mr Moore said a key project he hoped to achieve after eight years of work was the proposed basketball stadium at the Bunyip Recreation Reserve.

“It’s such a big sport here. That’s a big one that needs a lot of funding from many sources.”

Another aim is a bike trail following the railway line connecting Bunyip to Nar Nar Goon, or perhaps to Pakenham. He said it was still early days and a difficult project, but “really worthy”.

Mr Moore said major issues in Bunyip ward included road issues, drains and footpaths as well as looking after his “outside townships”. He says his ability to connect with the community on all different levels had been proven over the past 10 years.

When asked his greatest achievement, Mr Moore replied “I think delivering answers to resident’s questions where I can and delivering infrastructure for the local community and sporting clubs, which takes a long time to get over the line”.

Mr Moore is on BunyipGarf ield Rotary Club and assisted with the Nar Nar Goon Christmas Festival, Pakenham’s Yakkerboo Festival and Pakenham Show.
