Safety upgrades

The Longwarry-Koo wee rup Rd and Lang Lang-Poowong Rd at Nyora are to get safety upgrades.

They are among 100 projects across Victoria to be funded under a joint Commonweal­thState government investment of $245 million and follows $97.2 million announced by the two government­s earlier this year for similar works.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said many of the identified projects were ready to start and would provide an immediate boost to local economies.

She said the works would include things such as installing safety barriers, rumble strip line marking, new signage and intersecti­on upgrades.

Across Gippsland 14 projects will be funded from the latest allocation­s.

The Commonweal­th has provided $183 million, or about three-quarters, of the total amount with the State contributi­ng the balance of $62 million.

As the two-year anniversar­y of the Bunyip Complex bushfire approaches, psychologi­st Katerina Volny will lead two hikes incorporat­ing mindfulnes­s from the Mortimer Picnic Ground.

The first hike of about 12km is for those who want a bit of a challenge. Arrive at 9am for the hike to take in the stunning views from Four Brothers Rock, finishing with a free lunch at 12.30pm.

Hike two is a gentle 3km walk suitable for all abilities and families, taking in the Mindful Riverside Nature Walk. Join the free lunch at 12.30pm before the 1.30pm hike. It will finish at about 3pm.
