Big wins for Longwarry

Longwarry’s division one team scored a convincing 40shot win after travelling to Warragul on Saturday.

The division six team travelled to Thorpdale and consolidat­ed their top of the ladder position with a 34-shot win.

Division one: Longwarry 20/115 defeated Warragul 0/75.

Hank Metselaar, Peter Lieshout, Jason Lieshout and Slim Eastwell (skip) defeated Graeme Davis’ team 32/19.

Longwarry got off to a great start, highlighte­d by a five on end 10, and took a seven-shot lead into the break. Longwarry played the remainder of the game well as a team, finishing in style to win by 13 shots.

Brian Hennessy, Ken White, Barry White and Russell White (skip) defeated Bill Clapper’s team 34/18.

Longwarry got out to a sevenshot lead by end eight before Warragul fought back to level the scores at 10-all by end 12. The White brothers took control of the game, winning seven of the next eight ends to set up the 16-shot win in a great family effort.

Glenn Pask, Grant Pask, Matt Eccles and Adam Proctor (skip) defeated Ken Scammell’s team 25/21.

In a close game all day, the Longwarry boys were able to keep the lead and fend off several Warragul challenges to eventually win by four shots.

Elio Meggetto, John McCarthy, Ian Peterson and Ken Towt (skip) defeated Janette Gallasch’s team 24/17.

After six ends, scores were all even at five-all. Longwarry won six of the next seven ends to take an 11-shot lead into the break. Warragul tried hard in the second half to bridge the gap, but Longwarry were too strong and ended up with a seven-shot win.

Division six: Longwarry 10/57 defeated Thorpdale 0/23.

Graham Hanks, Sharon Twite, Vicki Hanks and Simon Counsel (skip) defeated Joe Gunn’s team 30/13.

After an even first half, Longwarry picked up 20 shots and only allowed Thorpdale four shots in the second half to record a convincing 17-shot win.

Reg Dunn, Lorna Sheedy, Mark “Magoo” Serong and Gerard “Boss” Mitchell defeated David Eves’ team 27/10.

In a very similar match to the first, Longwarry was able to score heavily after the break to also record a 17-shot win in a great team effort.
