New director for Baw Baw Shire

A new director is set to join Baw Shire’s executive leadership team tjhis month.

Caz McLean has been appointed strategy and organisati­onal performanc­e director.

She replaces Mark Dupe, who was corporate and community services director before being appointed chief executive officer in May last year.

Since then, the position has been held by acting executive manager strategy, community services and finance Chrisanya Martin.

Ms McLean will take up the position on May 24.

She has senior leadership experience in local government, having previously held roles as digital and data manager and organisati­onal performanc­e manager at City of Casey.

Most recently Ms McLean worked as a consultant assisting councils with leadership developmen­t, project and strategy design, change management and innovation.

Ms McLean holds a masters degree in social science and a double masters in strategic foresight and business administra­tion, during which she was one of six students selected to study strategic and ethical leadership at Boston’s Northeaste­rn University.

Mr Dupe said Ms McLean’s experience would assist council develop its new council plan and community vision, support the aged and disability services transition, and manage growth in key service areas, such as family and children’s services.

“Caz is a dynamic and engaging leader with extensive experience in strategy, transforma­tion and engagement.

“With council’s new community vision and council plan in the works this year, Caz is ready to hit the ground running. Her experience will be invaluable as we strive to engage our growing community, innovate and deliver strategic projects that meet the challenges and opportunit­ies of the next four years.”

Ms McLean said she was thrilled to be joining Baw Baw Shire Council to lead teams in providing important services for a fast-growing community.
