Elliot takes all

-

Chairo Christian School’s annual house athletics carnival was held in near perfect conditions on Ballantyne Oval at the Drouin campus.

In addition to competing in a wide range of track and field events, students in Years 5 to 12 from campuses at Drouin, Traralgon and Leongatha cheered and dressed up for the occasion, with colourful flags, gazebos and costumes producing a festive vibe with spirits high.

The house judged to have demonstrated the most spirit on the day was Elliot, winning the coveted House Spirit Shield.

The spirit must have motivated their competitors because Elliot was also named the overall winning house for both middle school (Years 5 to 8) and senior school (Years 9 to 12).

Age group champions were Skye Norman and Aaron Nucara (under 11), Violet Dodd and Caleb Ball (under 12), Kaylee Norman, Melvey Podmore and Jackson Brown (under 13), Tandia Sharman, Chloe Johnstone and Azariah Borg (under 14), Ana Miljanic and Joe Curtis (under 15), Ruth Tucker and Ethan Nalder (under 16), Taleah Borg and Fearghus Browne (under 17) and Gill Tucker and Tom Johnstone (under 21).

Highlights of the carnival included two records from 2004 being broken, with Azariah Borg from Elliot setting a new mark in the under 14 boys 200m event and Liddell doing likewise in the under 11 girls 4x100m relay. Two students from Flynn also set new records, Skye Norman in the under 11 triple jump and Aubre Holzer in the under 12 discus.
