Objectives for region
The Committee for Gippsland has released an updated strategic plan that sets its key objectives for the region through to 2024.
Launched by chair Alex Aeschlimann in the presence of State treasurer Tim Pallas the plan takes into account significant policy changes over the past 12 months as well as disuptions to businesses and the community due to drought, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Pallas said he believed Gippsland’s future is bright.
The government looks forward to working with C4G in supporting jobs and investment across the region as the state bounces back from the economic challenges, he said.
The key priorities the plan outlines for C4G are to promote the region’s lifestyle choices and ensure it is “investment ready”.
The focus would be on infrastructure to accommodate large commercial opportunities, recycling and organics, water, optimal land use, new industries and jobs and building relationships with Asian sub-regions.
It will also highlight the attraction of lifestyle choices in the region and push for investment in health, education, digital connectivity and higher paying skilled jobs.
Mr Aeschlimann said as the peak industry body for the region C4G’s aim was the create a thriving and sustainable future for people through advocacy and attracting investment and jobs.
C4G is an independent not-for-profit body whose members represent industry business and community groups across Gippsland.
