Physical Training
On Anzac Day thirty teachers selected by the Education Department assembled at Trafalgar for a course of instruction in physical training. The course of instruction in each subject is fairly comprehensive, and if further evidence of the efforts of the State to maintain a high standard of free education, mentally and physically, for the young. Amongst the teachers attending the courses are: - Messrs. W.J. Young, Longwarry; F. Peake, Bona Vista; H. Greeness, Yarragon; S Stainsby, Darnum; H Buxton, Buln; F.A. Murray, Cloverlea; J.H. Sutcliffe, Rokeby.
Forty-four cars took part in the rally, which began and ended at Warragul Showground.
Each entrant was sponsored to the extent of at least $20, with the most heavily sponsored entrants – Miss Shirley Howden and Mrs. W. Larsen – bringing in $76.
The rally was won by Dianne Fraser (driver) and Margaret Jackson (navigator).
Rotary president Mr V. Rowe, who said this morning that the club was gratified at the result of the rally, added that he was particularly impressed with the behavior and driving ability of young people taking part.
“About 75% of drivers were under the age of 25 years, and they drove very well,” he said. The rally passed without incident.
A cheque from rally proceeds will be presented to a hospital representative at the Rotary meeting next Friday. electric jug, a women’s wristlet watch, woman’s clothing and two pairs of shoes.
