Ranges Probus

-

The April meeting of Warragul Ranges Probus Club was held on Thursday, April 22, at the Warragul Country Club and was the first meeting with the new committee.

Speaker for the day was Hans van Meurs the director of Wesley of Warragul.

He told of the architectural and historical significance of the building which started out as a Methodist Church in 1888.

He went on to tell of the past and future musical performances that are held there as it has excellent acoustics.

It caters for weddings and the beautiful bell can be heard all over Warragul. Many local groups use Wesley as a meeting place.

New members are always welcome as well as volunteers who can perform many different tasks to help with getting performances under way.

All groups have now resumed and the night time dine out group had a lovely social evening at the Albert and Smith Restaurant in the West Gippsland Arts Centre in Warragul. The lunchtime dining group had their function at Middels in Drouin.

The club held a car trial on April 8 and some members strayed from the scheduled route but luckily everyone arrived at the morning tea stop by fair means or foul, and a full compliment arrived for a picnic lunch at the Jindivick Hall. The weather was great and the clues generated a lot of chatter and frustration for some.

The garden group travelled to a wonderful garden on the edge of Warragul. It is a magnificent five acres of incredible garden which has been developed over the past 20 years from a nearly bare paddock into a beautiful park like setting.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 27, at 10am at the Warragul Country Club.
