There are three undefeated teams as the Ellinbank and District Netball Association A grade ladder starts to take shape.
Nilma Darnum, Trafalgar and Ellinbank all remain undefeated, with Nilma leading the way after four wins. Both Trafalgar and Ellinbank are on three wins after having an early bye.
Nyora and Buln Buln are also looking strong, with only one loss apiece.
After an even first quarter against NeerimNeerim South, Nilma Darnum’s defensive end of Stacey Lawry and Nikki Mirams stamped their authority to secure a 53-28 win.
Trafalgar ended Nyora’s winning streak with an impressive 51-24 win and early form suggests they will be right in the mix come finals. There is plenty of excitement at Nyora for its improving A grade side and they will be keen to bounce back after a week off.
Ellinbank handed reigning premiers Catani its second loss of the season. Despite both missing a key player or two, it was a strong contest throughout. Ellinbank had a good start to open a five-goal break at quarter time and extended that margin to 11 by half-time. Although Catani reduced the margin to single figures in the final quarter, Ellinbank ran out winners 48-38.
Poowong had its first win of the season against Yarragon and jump to seventh on the ladder. Yarragon put in a good opening quarter before Poowong pulled away led by Grace Green to win 64-24.
Lang Lang got the jump on Longwarry on the way to a 51-37 win. The Tigers impressed in the 13-4 opening quarter, but Longwarry proved they have plenty of fight in the remaining three quarters.
Buln Buln had the bye.
