Who wants to retire?

I am fortunate that Moria and I love to travel, sometimes by impulse; like a last minute trip to the Gold Coast on Mother’s Day – a cheap airfare with REX (Regional Express) nonstop flight, approximately 2 hours. We will stay close to Cavill Avenue, and will rely on the public transport in the area which has come a long way in the last few years. It has been 15 years since we have spent any time on the Gold Coast so we are looking forward to seeing all the changes in the area.

We have recently returned from Hobart. Just a short 70 minute flight from Melbourne then Skybus Hobart into the city where we stayed 2 nights. We took the hop on / hop off bus for the day which is terrific value and then headed to Mt Wellington where snow was falling which was quite a treat. The following day we took the express coach to Launceston which was about 2.5 hours away and spent 2 nights there. Our highlight was a boat cruise down theTamar River.

It really is a wonderful time to explore our neighbouring states with airfares to Sydney starting at $39 one way, Adelaide $49 one way and Hobart $45 one way. Let us put together a package with accommodation and day tours so you are really seeing the highlights of the destinations.

No money needed until June! We know what you are thinking, and we know the questions that are going through your head. What if I book and the borders close? What if the bubble bursts? What if I become sick between now and then? What if New Zealand is no longer easily accessible for Australians?

Trust us, we are with you in this course of thinking. Which is why we have set up this tour so you are not locked into any commitment until June.

Which is why we are now TAKING BOOKINGS for Tour Locals New Zealand Tour in November, where there is no payment needed until 1st June 2021.

What happens on June 1st? The situation is assessed. If you don’t want to travel, you don’t have to travel. If travel is still looking good to NZ, then all we require is a $200pp deposit to hold your booking, (don’t worry this is still protected IF we can’t travel due to covid).

If travel is not looking good to NZ, then we simply leave things as they are, and continue to monitor the situation. It’s a WIN WIN situation for those wanting to experience the best of New Zealand!

Cruising

Many of the cruise companies (Princess, P&O, Carnival) all have listed cruises for departure in October right through to March 2022.

We will be planning a cruise out of Sydney on the 20th November circumnavigating Australia embarking Sydney and disembarking Perth. We are still deciding whether we will fly home, continue cruising to Melbourne or return home via the Indian Pacific rail.

Cruise Downunder

Many ships move from north of the equator to south of the equator to catch the Australian summer. It appears as we are going to have a feast of ships in Australian waters for the upcoming summer. The first cruise departs Sydney 21st October 2021 with a series of cruises to the South Pacific, New Zealand and domestic cruises. Princess Cruises have scheduled a summer season out of Station Pier Port Melbourne and P&O have early sailings from Brisbane from the 24th September; essentially into the Pacifc area.

It has been the tradition that cruises in Australia sell out very early for Christmas. One of the most popular cruises out of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will be the New Year Cruise.

Ponant who have several small ships in our waters over the next few months are offering several departures with no single supplement. Please call the office for further information.

Time to start thinking 2022

As you are probably already aware, domestic travel is still going strong especially in Western Australia and the Northern Territory and availability for the rest of 2021 is getting harder to secure. Due to the high demand and to avoid missing out on your dream itinerary, we recommend to start looking at 2022 dates for your holidays. Iconic hotels across the country like Cable Beach Club and El Questro are fully booked for 2021 and are now filling for 2022.

The Ghan and Indian Pacific have also been heavily booked this year especially their Platinum cabins (no bunk beds). Their 2022 season is now open for bookings so get in early to secure your preferred dates and cabin.
