-

After narrowly missing victory last year, Lourdes house produced a commanding performance on the track and field to win the Marist-Sion College athletics sports.

Head of house Christine Haasz said she was thrilled with the overall effort and participation of her Lourdes team at the inter-house athletics.

Lourdes scored 3771 points to open a large margin to runner-up Jericho on 3419 and third placed Joseph on 3346. They were followed by MacKillop (3330), Marcellin (3063), Loreto (2954), Champagnat (2618) and Sion (2352).

The athletics day started on a cold and drizzly morning, which made for difficult conditions early. However, the sun came out and presented ideal conditions for the second half of the day.

The age champions were Georgia Coleman (MacKillop) and Archibald Dunn (Jericho) in the under 13s; Chloe A’Herne (MacKillop) and Samuel Grummisch (Loreto) in the under 14s; Tess Steenholdt (Joseph) and Leigh Effenberg (Lourdes) in the under 15s; Ava Gaul (MacKillop) and Patrick Alger (Marcellin) in the under 16s; Antonia McFarlane (Lourdes) and Matthew Roberts (MacKillop) in the under 17s; and Sophie Ryan (Joseph) and Tom Carpenter (Lourdes) in the under 21s.
