Warragul & Drouin Gazette

Steve from The Botanic Ark

-

is a tree lover and one of our favourite market characters.

He and his wife

Robyn have a nursery in Copelands Road,

Warragul brimming with rare, unusual and interesting plants and have a story for every cutting and every pot they have on display. You can really hear the care they take with these plants and some of them have travelled from all over the world (back when you could bring plants in) and have been lovingly reborn over the years to create many more baby plants from cuttings. So if you’re looking for something interesting for the garden, pop into Botanic Ark’s stall at the market this weekend or make an appointment to visit Steve at his nursery - it will be a very memorable experience.

Market Committee President, Lou Leighton took a visit to Quynh’s flower farm in Alambee. All of your favourite essential stalls will be in attendance at Civic Park this Saturday. The market will be located along the road to save our feet from getting damp. Market opens from 8.30am til 1pm. This is a micro flower farm specialising in wild flowers, cymbidium orchids, hydrangea and calla lilies. Allambee flower farm is five km of densely planted terraces winding through the scenic Strzelecki Ranges providing a year round supply of wildflowers to the Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne wholesale markets as well as to Gippsland florists and our farmers’ market each month. Several thousand flowering orchids and a wide range of exotics complement the extensive plantings of proteas, waratah, Erica etc. Quynh works incredibly hard and we just love her! Make sure you get a bunch of her beautiful flowers this Saturday.
