Health Service Volunteers Give from the Heart

-

West Gippsland Healthcare Group’s over 150 volunteers have been impacted by the current pandemic over the past year.

Patients, clients, carers, visitors, aged care residents and staff are missing their friendly faces and the valuable service they offer.

Happily, the dedicated volunteers at the Trafalgar Opportunity Shop and Drouin Auxiliary Opportunity Shop, who raise significant funds for the health service through sales of donated goods, have been able to return to their work and have shown enormous resilience.

The volunteer consumer representatives who do important work on committees and working parties providing important input and insight on key consumer issues, have also been able to continue their work.

Some of the other volunteer programs at West Gippsland Healthcare Group are also starting to return.

This return sees volunteers play a significant role in ensuring everyone is kept safe during this unique time.

Volunteers are returning in line with government guidelines to ensure everyone is safe.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group is thankful to the numerous volunteer programs including the Trafalgar Opportunity Shop and

Drouin Auxiliary Opportunity Shop, volunteer consumer representatives, Community Rehabilitation programs, and Cooinda Lodge in Warragul and Andrews House in Trafalgar, where social support for aged care residents will be of particular value at this time.

In addition, West Gippsland Healthcare Group is thankful to the Palliative Care volunteers, Concierge volunteers, Book trolley volunteers, Rawson Community Health Centre, Administration and Ward Services volunteers whose services will be returned in a safe manner.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group also thanks the many service clubs, organisations and individuals who fundraise for the Healthcare Group throughout the year.

West Gippsland Healthcare Group celebrates National Volunteers Week to let volunteers know their contribution is highly valued, and looks forward to welcoming all volunteers back when the time is right.
