Longwarry’s winning start to new year
Longwarry division 2 hosted Drouin on Saturday and had a convincing 70 shot win.
Division 6 hosted Morwell Club winning both rinks for an overall 17 shot win.
Division 2 – Longwarry 133 defeated Drouin 63
Elio Meggetto, Barry White, Grant Pask and Ken White (Skip) defeated Lyn Jeffery’s team 32/18.
The Longwarry team got off to a great start picking up 6 shots on the first end and by end 12 they were 19/5 up, Drouin fought back to get within 4 shots by end 18 but Longwarry regrouped and finished well to win by 16 shots.
Glenn Pask, Ian Peterson, Jason Lieshout and Adam Proctor (Skip) defeated Andrew Kidd’s team 38/13.
This rink also got off to a great start winning 10 of the first 11 ends to take a 15 shot lead into the break. Longwarry extended their lead in the second half to record a convincing 25 shot win.
Rob Proctor, Peter Lieshout, John McCarthy and Matt Eccles (Skip) defeated by Colin Jeffery’s team 20/25.
Longwarry won the first two ends but then Drouin won the next 11 ends to take a 17/2 lead into the break. The Longwarry team worked hard to get back within 2 shots by end 24, but unfortunately fell short with Drouin getting 3 on the last end to win by 5 shots.
Mark Serong, Simon Counsel, Hank Metselaar and Kenneth Towt (Skip) defeated Brian Thorpe’s team 43/7.
The Longwarry combination totally controlled this match winning 19 of the 25 ends to win by 36 shots.
Division 6 – Longwarry 56 defeated Morwell Club 39
Debbie Parker, Lurraine Bluck, John O’Shea and Hogg Mitchell (Skip) defeated Cheryl Reynott’s team 28/16.
After an even first half, the Hogg game a team inspiring speech and with Deb leading well they won 8 ends in a row to set up their 12 shot win.
Lorna Sheedy, Sharon Twite, Paul Buckner and Vicki Hanks (Skip) defeated Barry Pelchen’s team 28/23.
Longwarry got off to a flyer and lead 10/0. Morwell Club then won 6 ends in a row to level the scores at 10 all. The remainder of the game was close with several lead changes, then Longwarry won the last 3 ends to record a 5 shot win.
