Midweek Pennant 11 January

The first game after Christmas was played in pleasant playing conditions with the greens running well in warm conditions.

In Division 1 Traralgon consolidat­ed their position on top of the ladder with a nail biting one shot win over Drouin.in a low scoring match reflecting how competitiv­e the match was. Pat Trewin and her rink of Garry Trewin, Elaine Swan and Matthew Higgins had a 15 – 12 win over Sheryl Atkinson and her rink of Elaine Thorpe, Arthur Moore and Mark Atkinson. Paddy Francis and her rink of Bill Francis, Shirley Whitechurc­h and Barry Fernance had a 18 – 13 win over Maureen Leighton and her rink of Mary Firth, John Leighton and David Tayles. The lone winner for Drouin was Denise Hamilton and her rink of Graeme Aubrey, Jan Aubrey and Denis Throup who beat Kathy Smiles and her rink of Chis Thomas, Rosie Lorenz and Phil Mustoe 22 – 15 giving Traralgon the win by one shot.

Traralgon 14 – 48 defeated Drouin 2 – 47. Newborough welcomed Morwell and big wins were the order of the day for the home team. Joan Goldie and her team of Robert Goldie, Jeff Wetzel and Julie Jackson won 24 – 12 over Shirley Skinner and her rink of Ross Harford, Letti Mizzi and John Osborne. Debbie Kennedy and her rink of John Arnold, Barry Daley and Fran Clark had a 34 – 11 win over Kerry Wright and her rink of Bill and Judy Tumney together with Kevin Pigdon. Jo-Anne Michaels and her rink of Tony Knipping, Mary Whelan and Nosha Michaels won 22 – 10 over Glenda Thompson and her rink of Russell Williams, Rita Reddiex and Wayne Bishop to complete the clean sweep.

Newborough 16 – 80 defeated Morwell 0 – 33.

Morwell Club had a good win over Traralgon RSL with all rinks up Tara Harle and her rink of Iyoko Yoshimura, Beryl Noblett and Michael Skinner had a 23 – 13 win over Shirley McKenzie and her rink of John Farquhar, Adriana Eaton and Joe Ward. Tess Borg and her rink of Roger Rejmer, Bernie Kirkup and Brett Harle had a 27 – 6 win over Elaine Muir and her rink of Titch Hore, Margaret Morley and Max Aumann. Sue Karleusa and her rink of Dashaa Martin, Gail Rejmer and David Patience won 22 – 18 over Margaret Gibbins and her rink of Bev jacobs. Max Gibbins and Jeff Blytheman.

Morwell Club 16 – 72 defeated Traralgon RSL 0 - 37

Warragul returned to the winning list with an all rinks victory over Trafalgar who found the Warragul green a daunting task. Pat Hammond and her rink of Alison Matthews, Roy Hammond and Graeme Davis won 31 – 9 over Sue Robinson and her rink of Barbara Evans, Ian Riley and Paul Dawson. Janette Gallasch and her rink of Matt Draisma, Elsie Hefford and Peter Gallasch won 25 – 11 over Heather Taylor and her rink of Pat Tatterson, Helen Robertson and Ian Miles. Linda McCoy and her rink of Margaret Keefe, Ken Scammell and David Ferguson completed the sweep with a 18 – 16 victory over Mary Holdsworth and her rink of Carol Saunders, Peter Watson and Ken Capper.

Warragul 16 – 74 defeated Trafalgar 0 – 36. Division 2

Newborough (2) travelled to Morwell (2) and enjoyed playing under the dome as they won all three rinks. Carmel Goss and her rink of Glenys Perkins,Jenny Cocks and Robbert Cook won 30 – 12 over Irene Biggs. The other winning Newborough rinks were Heather Mooney winning 17 – 11 and Adrienne Birchall winning 25 – 10.

Newborough (2) 16 – 72 defeated Morwell (2) 0 – 33.

Drouin (2) had a good win at home against Traralgon (2) with Lyn Jeffreys and her rink ofRon Westrup, Margaret Rhodes and Andre De Waele had a 30 – 17 win over May Cross. The other winning Drouin (2) skipper was Mary Andrews with a 24 – 16 victory. The lone winning Traralgon (2) rink was Dettie Wylie who won 31 – 17.

Drouin (2) 14 – 71 defeated Traralgon (2) 2 – 64

Warragul (2) had a good win at Moe with Chris Wilkins and her rink of Freda Lay, Ian Belling and Keith Wilins winning 24 – 10 over Val Rodgers. The other Winning Warragul skipper was with winning skippers was Gladys Atkinson winning 25 – 17. The lone winning Moe skipper was Val Griffiths with a 1+ - 17 win.

Warragul (2) 14 – 66 defeated Moe 2 – 46. Neerim District drew with Morwell Club (2) and their winning skippers were Pat FraserAuri­sch with a 20 – 15 win over Betty Burridge and Karren Sheers with a 29 – 23 win over Cheryl Reynolds. The lone winner for Morwell Club (2) was Leanne Broadbent with a 23 – 12 win over Cookie Halligan.

Neerim District 9 – 81 drew with Morwell Club (2) 7 – 61.

Division 3

After having only one rink up for the last two weeks and winning Trafalgar (2) was on the receiving end of a similar result against Garfield with Garfield 12 – 59 defeating Trafalgar (2) 4 – 57.

Newborough (3) 12 – 70 with only one rink up with Ann Mary Ryan winning 31 - 7 defeated Morwell (3) 4 – 49

Yinnar 14 – 62 defeated Warragul (3) 2 - 51 Drouin (3) 13 – 57 defeated Traralgon (3) 3 - 51

Division 4

Morwell Club (3) 8 – 49 defeated Traralgon RSL (2) 2 – 40. Yarragon 10 – 47 defeated Traralgon (4) 0 – 32, Trafalgar (3) 10 – 42 defeated, Yallourn North 0 – 22, Newborough (4) 9 – 43 defeated Moe (2) 0 – 38. Drouin (4) 10 – 63 defeated Yinnar (2) 0 – 22.

Next week in Division 1 fourth placed Morwell Club visits second placed Newborough and bottom side Morwell hosts Traralgon RSL to give them a good chance to climb the ladder. In the other matches Trafalgar hosts Drouin and Warragul hosts Traralgon.

In Division 2 third team Traralgon (2) hosts fourth teams Warragul (2). Newborough (2) travels to Morwell Club (2), Drouin (2) hosts Moe and Neerim District hosts Morwell (2).
