Longwarry roll ladder leaders

Longwarry Division 2 travelled to Morwell on Saturday to take on the undefeated Morwell team and in a close match came away with a thrilling 3 shot win.

Longwarry Division 6 travelled to Newborough and unbelievab­ly tied both rinks for a 43 all draw.

Division 2 – Longwarry 97 defeated Morwell 94

Elio Meggetto, Barry White, Simon Counsel and Ken White (Skip) defeated by David Cook’s team 17/27.

After an even start Morwell got the upper hand and by end 12 they had a 7 shot lead, Longwarry came back and levelled the scores by end 18, but Morwell controlled the remainder of the game winning 5 of the last 6 ends to win by 10 shots.

Peter Lieshout, Ian Peterson, Jason Lieshout and Adam Proctor (Skip) defeated by Ronaldo Lyfield’s team 18/32.

After 5 ends, scores were level at 5 all. Morwell then won the next 9 ends to lead by 20 shots. Longwarry tried hard to peg back the margin, but Morwell were too strong winning by 14 shots.

Glenn Pask, Rob Proctor, John McCarthy and Matt Eccles (Skip) defeated Nathan Cook’s team 26/21.

In a close game with several lead changes, Longwarry set up their 5 shot win, winning 5 ends in a row from end 19.

Hogg Mitchell, Mark Serong, Hank Metselaar and Kenneth Towt (Skip) defeated Ernie King’s team 36/14.

This Longwarry rink continued their hot form winning 17 of the 25 ends to set up a match winning 22 shot win.

Division 6 – Longwarry 43 tied Newborough 43

Debbie Parker, Lurraine Bluck, John O’Shea and Mark Light (Skip) tied Betty William’s team 21 all.

Longwarry welcomed “Boofa” Light to the team for his first game of pennant after learning his craft on a Friday night. The game was tight all day and finished in a fitting tie.

Lorna Sheedy, Graeme Hank and Vicki Hanks (Skip) tied Joan Lee’s team 22 all.

The Longwarry team played with 3 players after a late withdrawal and played well throughout the day with Skip “Vicki” in control saving many shots, with the game finishing in a 22 all tie.
