Division 2:

Ellinbank v Drouin

One terrific partnership separated Ellinbank and Drouin on the weekend.

Winning the toss and batting first, only Nick Harper (27) was able to put any pressure on Ellinbank’s strong bowling unit early, as they collapsed to 7-88.

Timothee Mashado (3-24) continued his ridiculous bowling form, whilst Chris Pallot (215) and Will Auldist (2-27) provided solid support with classy spells. Adin Short (41) was able to put the game back into the balance with a whirlwind knock from number 9, as Drouin made a defendable 157.

In reply, a devastating 3-12 from Cameron Caddy had Drouin on the brink of a rare victory, as the Eagles slipped to 5-65 in their chase.

However, a wonderful, match-defining 95run stand from Andrew Quirk (51*) and manof-the-match Mashado (35*) was able to separate the two sides, as Ellinbank claimed a crucial six points.

Iona v Hallora

Iona continued to cement their spot at the top of the table on the weekend, dominating Hallora at home.

Batting first, Iona’s powerful batting order flexed their muscle again, as Graeme Rankin (64) and Mick Taylor (41) led the Swamp Tigers to an imposing total of 200. For Hallora, Clint Hickford (2-44) and Alex Henshall (2-48) were expensive but picked up key scalps, as the Kangas struggled.

In reply, Hallora were never truly in the game- as Wade Haysom (4-16) squashed any hope of a resistance. Brayden Notman (29) and Henshall (29) tried to blast their way home, but Iona’s strength proved too great, as Iona’s premiership press pushes on.

Garfield-Tynong v Western Park

Western Park responded from a close loss last week, easily accounting for GarfieldTynong away from home.

Losing the toss and bowling, wickets by committee seemed to be the mantra for the Warriors as Tyler McMillan (2-13), Frogly Barnes (2-20), Kyle Baker (2-20) and Patrick Brooks (2-25) all took multiple wickets as Garfield-Tynong were all out for an under-par 130.

Tate Burgmann (37) and Isaac Braaksma (31) once again did the job for the Titans, but there wasn’t any support from the rest of the order throughout the innings.

In reply, there was no trouble for the Parkers despite a fine spell from Glen Johnston (2-18). Kurtis Harper (32) and Matt Roberts (32) solidified their opening partnership, whilst Tyler McMillan (28) put the finishing touches on a seven-wicket win.

Longwarry v Jindivick

A dominant Longwarry side has thrashed an over-matched Jindivick on the weekend.

Batting first, Longwarry’s powerful batting continued on its merry way, with an all-around effort seeing the Crows make an imposing 6210, with Christian Stacey (2-27) providing the most damaging spell for Jindivick.

In reply, only James Keogh (32) put up a fight as the likes of Yashan Samarasinghe (three wickets) and Shayne Gillings (two wickets) helped skittle the Jumping Jacks for just 77.
