Ward makes first century
Drouin v Iona
Iona has cemented their spot at the top of the ladder, easing their way to victory over Drouin. Bowling first, Nick Harper (27), Jack McConville (20) and Seb Amoroso (20*) put the home side on the back foot, as the Hawks made 7-146 despite efforts from Luke Ferguson (2-28) and Wade Haysom (2-30).
In reply, Graeme Rankin (61*) led the charge, but was well supported at the top of the order by former Drouin champion Malcolm Dow (35)- the pair adding 70 for the first wicket to put the match beyond doubt, as Iona got home.
Hallora v Ellinbank
A maiden century from Lane Ward was the catalyst for an easy Hallora victory on the weekend. The U/16 premiership captain slammed 17 boundaries in a knock that lasted almost the entire innings, as he made 102 not out, with support from Steve Fox (32) and Brayden Notman (30) helping push the score to 5-190.
In reply, Ellinbank struggled from the get-goonly Chris Pallot (28) made a score of note as Ellinbank limped to 9-119. For the home side, Alex Henshall (2-10) and Steve Fox (2-19) did the job with the ball, as they cemented fourth place for the time being.
Jindivick v Garfield-Tynong
A strong bowling performance has seen Jindivick
topple Garfield-Tynong on the weekend. Bowling first, Jindivick stalwart Luke Hume was the star of the show claiming 5-22 and taking key scalps in the process as he and Mick Tumino (2-14) skittled the Titans for just 105. Matt Dodman (34) stood up once again for the visitors, however it was not enough on the day.
In reply, Jindivick wobbled at one stage as Will Pickering (3-29) gave the away side hopehowever, Rory Payne (29) and Nicholas Bagnall (20) did enough to see the Jumping Jacks home with four wickets to spare.
Western Park v Longwarry
A return to form from Yashan Samarasinghe propelled Longwarry to victory in their top-ofthe-table clash with Western Park. Batting first, Samarasinghe played a lone hand- destroying a shellshocked Western Park attack, hitting 11 fours and a towering six on his way to 104 off just 100 deliveries. He received support from Shayne Gillings (24) and Isaac Carney (24), as only Tyler McMillan (2-41) and Angus Geals (249) stopped the score of 6-211 from ballooning even larger.
In reply, early wickets from Rob Wilkinson broke the back of the Parkers- however, Tyler McMillan (75) played a sensational hand, hitting four maximums to put respectability back on the scoreboard, as Western Park reached 8-155 before the close of play.
