Warragul remain in sixth
The penultimate round of Strzelecki North Saturday Pennant was played on Saturday with Warragul taking on top side Traralgon on its indoor synthetic surface.
This is a great surface to play on, however, the home side proved to be too good and handled the conditions very well.
Division one: Warragul 2/78 lost to Traralgon 14/131
Graeme Davis (skip) and the rink Peter Gallasch, Linda McCoy and Ken Landman lost to skip Vincent McIlwain 36/12. Andrew Glover (skip) and his rink Janette Gallasch, Ian Belling and Des Stephens defeated skip Matt Ferrari 25/24. Matty Schreyer (skip) and his rink Noel Rubenstein, Ian McCartney and David Alderman lost to skip James Scullin 19/34. David Smith (skip) and his rink Jim Power, John Vickerman and Matt Draisma lost to skip Phil Mustoe 22/37. Warragul remain in sixth position on the ladder.
Division three: Warragul (2) 18/117 defeated Morwell (2) 0/77
Warragul's second side won against a side above them on the ladder when they defeated Morwell seconds.
By winning again this week, Warragul has consolidated its position in the final four. Another great win for the club's second side.
The rink skipped by Bill Clappers with Russ Carrick, Ken Brown and Kerrie Currie defeated skip John Osbourne 26/18. Paul Simmons (skip) and his rink of Marg Ratcliffe, Gabriel Draisma and Elsie Hefford defeated Darren Cullen 36/12. David Gatewood (skip) and his rink of Brent Grigg, Brian Kennedy and John Bell defeated Ken Turner 27/20. Bob Currie (skip) and his rink of Peter Ellis, Norm Dickson and Bernie McIntosh defeated Shashi Bhatti 27/28.
This win will give Warragul confidence going into the last round on Saturday. They need to win to ensure fourth place on the ladder to play in the finals.
Division four: Warragul (3) 2/84 lost to Traralgon (4) 16/100
The third side lost with one rink winning and three rinks losing.
Even though the game was played on home territory, the top side proved difficult and Warragul lost by 16 shots.
